Lorraine Davis

Operations

Lorraine Davis serves as Technical Equipment Operations Coordinator for the Center for Functional Nanomaterials. Lorraine came to Brookhaven National Lab after 11 1/2 years of experience as a Research Technician in the Low Temperature Solid State (LTSS) nanofabrication facility located in the Physics Department at SUNY, Stony Brook. At Stony Brook, she managed Class 100 and Class 1000 Clean Rooms and gained experience in cryogenics, wafer patterning, micro-dicing and vacuum deposition/etch equipment, along the way patterning hundreds of the silicon nitride windows used at NSLS. Lorraine joined the CFN Jumpstart program in 2004, assigned to the Nanomagnetics group of Dr. Laura Lewis, located in Materials Science. There she diversified her knowledge of scientific equipment, learning the SQUID Magnetometer, SEM, AFM, TGA/DTA et al, and used those skills to assist CFN Jumpstart users. This knowledge base is called into play in her current assignment facilitating installation of the broad suite of scientific equipment in the new CFN building. A life long resident of Long Island, Lorraine is committed to Environmental Stewardship of the region.
