Every Friday through July 25, the Bernalillo County Commission and Parks and Rec Department will present a free concert at Los Vecinos Community Center in Tijeras. It’s all part of the center’s First Annual East Mountain Summer Concert Series. Shows start at 6 p.m. and run for approximately two hours. Genres include country, rhythm and blues, pop/rock, and Latin, folk, and oldies. The first concert, which was held June 6, featured ShinDig, a local pop/rock band, that attracted nearly 150 adults and children. This Friday’s band, Rock Bottom, will play country music.

“This is a great way for families to get together, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery that the East Mountains offers,” says Bernalillo County District 5 Commissioner Michael Brasher. “While parents are listening to the music, kids can also have the option of playing on our playground or new skate park nearby. This is all about enhancing our quality of life by providing safe, fun, free entertainment to the community.”

Parking will be at A. Montoya Elementary School and concert goers can bring blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets of food, non-alcoholic beverages and personal size umbrellas. Alcoholic beverages, pets, large umbrellas, and glass containers will not be permitted and bag inspections will be conducted at the gate entrance.
