EPHT 101
An online training module developed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) covering EPHT basics
Environmental Public Health Tracking 101  covers the basic principles of environmental public health tracking and provides an overview of the environmental public health tracking process for public health professionals. The CDC developed this course for online study, but individuals can use the course materials for live presentations if necessary. Moreover, public health professionals can receive continuing education credits (CE) for completing the course and its corresponding quiz.The course is hosted on the National Environmental Health Association's Web site. The course is free, but participants must register. A fee is associated with CE's. ArcGIS Quick Start Manual
ArcGIS is a software system that allows you to visually represent data by geographic location. This ArcGIS quick start manual was created by Oregon EPHT as a guide for local health departments learning to use the software. The material in this quick start manual is derived from the ESRI® ArcGIS® reference library.

The Public Health Assessment Process and the Community – Trainex, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  This program provides an overview of the public health assessment process that the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry uses to evaluate whether people will be harmed by hazardous materials from waste sites or from other places where hazardous substances have been spilled or released into the environment.

Federal Geographic Data Committee; Metadata resources and Information - The FGDC is tasked by Executive Order 12906 to develop procedures and assist in the implementation of a distributed discovery mechanism for national digital geospatial data.  A metadata record is a file of information, usually presented as an XML document, which captures the basic characteristics of a data or information resource.  This site lists some resources and information about metadata and the FGDC.

Columbia University School of Nursing, Center for Health Policy Bioterrorism Training and Curriculum Development Program – The purpose of this project is to increase readiness to respond to a bioterrorism or other deliberately caused emergency event through education of the health professional workforce on essential competencies in emergency preparedness and response.  The project is particularly focused on hospital-based providers, associated community clinicians, dentists and pediatric clinicians, drawing on the project team’s existing extensive experience in providing competency-based emergency preparedness training to a wide range of audiences.

Environmental Public Health Tracking Online Trainings, Tulane University – Tulane University, partnership with the Louisiana Office of Public Health - Center for Environmental Health, developed a series of training modules for entry-level environmental health practitioners.  These modules are meant for entry-level practitioners, so they are quite basic.  In the future, they will potentially provide additional and more advanced topics.

Risk Communication Training – Northwest Center for Public Health Practice.  This Web-based course provides an introduction to Emergency Risk Communication concepts and principles. Topics covered include planning for an emergency, best practices, creating effective messages, and strategies for interacting with the media and the community during times of crisis.
