ISO 19115

The new international standard for geospatial metadata.

We expect that eventually all existing FGDC metadata will migrate to ISO. The NMMR software infrastructure is inadequate to handle the object-oriented nature of ISO metadata, and so we expect to migrate to a new metadata repository tool. We will use either an existing tool, build a new one, or some combination thereof.
