High School Essay Contest Rules
Rules:
- Essays
must be 2-4 double-spaced pages in length (not including cover pages
or references) and typed or printed from a computer printer onto 8 1/2"
x 11" numbered pages in a 12-point font.
- Essays must contain a cover sheet with the essay title and the students
name and school.
- The first page of the essay itself must include
the essay title but must NOT contain the student's name or school.
- Essays should have page numbers.
- A bibliography
of references and sources is required. You must use a minimum
of three references.
- High
school students from Suffolk and Nassau Counties may submit entries.
- Only
one entry can be submitted per student.
Teachers are requested to submit only the top five essays from each
class. Only five entries per class, per school, will be
accepted. A list of all students submitting essays is requested.
Winning
essays will be chosen by an independent panel of judges. The
essays will be evaluated on the basis of critical thinking, scientific
accuracy, creativity, and organization.
