    In accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Pub L. 92-
463, as amended), the National Science Foundation announces the 
following meeting.

Name: Special Emphasis Panel in Polar Programs (1209).

Date and Time: October 20, 1999; 6 pm-10pm, October 21, 1999; 8 am-6pm; 
October 22, 1999; 9 am-5 pm.

Place: University of Chicago, Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 E. 59th Street, 
Chicago, IL.

Type of Meeting: Closed.

Contact Person: Dr. Dennis Peacock, Section Head, Office of Polar

Purpose of Meeting: To provide advice and recommendations concerning 
support for the Center for Astrophysical Research in the Antarctic, 
Science and Technology Center, University of Chicago.

Agenda: To review and evaluate progress so far and provide advice and 
recommendations on plans for the future.

Reason for Closing: The proposal being reviewed includes information of 
a proprietary or confidential nature, including technical information; 
financial data, such as salaries and personal information concerning 
individuals associated with the proposals. These matters are exempt 
under 5 U.S.C. 552b(c)(4) and (6) of the Government in the Sunshine 
Act.
