Employee Concerns Program

Employee Concerns Program Administrator

The Laboratory seeks to promptly address employee concerns in the workplace. To the extent possible, resolution of employee concerns should occur at the lowest management level. However, if the issue cannot be resolved at this level, the employee/guest/visitor has the opportunity to proceed within his/her management chain or to utilize an alternative, more formal, resolution process.

The Employee Concerns Program addresses unresolved issues related to mismanagement, gross waste of funds, abuse of authority and environment, safety and health. Employees, visitors and guests are encouraged to attempt to resolve their concerns through their management chain. If you encounter an ES&H problem that is not resolved by your management, contact your ES&H Coordinator or Facilities Support Representative. Concerns covered by Labor Agreements must be addressed through the Labor Grievance Process.  If the problem still exists, or if for any reason you do not feel comfortable working through your management chain, you may contact Susan Foster, Human Resources Services Manager, for assistance at 344-2888.

This is a formal program that reports to the Employee Concerns Program Manager.  If requested, confidentiality of the individual making the complaint will be maintained.  Employees and guests also have access to the Reporting Environmental, Safety, & Health Issues and Suggestions website and to the Safety Hotline 344-8800. Should a concern not be addressed to the employee’s satisfaction, they can contact the Department of Energy by writing to them at Department of Energy, Area Office, Building 464, Upton, NY 11973 or by calling the DOE Employee Concerns Program at 631-344-4089.
