New Alcohol Regulations

December 5, 1970: A rule prohibiting any person from acting as a crew member of a civil aircraft within eight hours after consuming alcohol became effective. The previous rule had prohibited crew members from performing their duties while under the influence of alcohol, but specified no time period for abstinence.
