Four New York Small Businesses Among Energy Star Winners

EPA named four New York small businesses among the 13 winners of the 2008 Energy Star Small Business and Congregation Awards. This year's winners are recognized for doing their part to save energy and fight climate change through effective energy management practices and innovative efficiency solutions. "EPA applauds these award winners for preserving our environment and our energy resources," said EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson.

EPA Removes Chemical Cornucopia from NJ Home

Removing a significant threat to public health and safety, EPA has completed a swift and expeditious cleanup of improperly stored hazardous materials at a private residence in North Brunswick, New Jersey. EPA removed an assortment of over 2,500 jars and other containers of various chemical compounds to prevent a potential chemical release or explosion. Hundreds of different chemical substances such as nitrates, peroxides, acids, oxidizers and radioactive agents have been neutralized or disposed of at an off-site licensed facility.
