Department of Transportation Announces New Publication on Alcohol and Drug Testing

In May, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Drug & Alcohol Policy & Compliance (ODAPC) announced the availability of a new online document designed to help employers implement the DOT's drug and alcohol testing regulations.

What Employers Need to Know About DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing offers best practices and clear instructions for managing a quality DOT program.  Featured topics include drug and alcohol program implementation, employee education, selecting service agents, record keeping and preparing for DOT Agency program reviews.

Individuals can download a
PDF version of the publication by visiting www.dot.gov/ost/dapc/.  In addition, those interested in learning more about how to prevent alcohol and drug use among workers—in transportation or other industries—are encouraged to visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Working Partners for and Alcohol- and Drug-Free Workplace Web site.  The site offers several training and educational resources that can be used in a variety of work environments to reinforce the value of working drug free to worker and public safety.
