May I Reproduce Some of the Pictures or Text from Your Web Site?
Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center serves the resources on this Web site under a wide variety of agreements with authors, photographers, publishers, state and federal agencies, and private organizations. Some of the resources, or portions of them, are protected by copyright. We do not have the authority to give you permission to copy materials for use on a personal or organizational Web site, pamphlet, book, news article, etc. Only the author (or publisher) of the text or photographer of the photo can provide such permission.
We offer the following tips to finding author and photographer contact information for obtaining permission to use material from this site:
- Permission for Images: If you wish to obtain permission to use a photo or image from a resource on
this Web site you will need to identify the photographer or credited entity. In most cases, the photographer/entity's
name is listed in conjunction with the displayed image. If a credit is not listed with the image, browse the
Acknowledgments section of the resource for a reference to photo or image contributors. It may be necessary to
contact the author(s) of the resource to obtain contact information for those who contributed images to the original
publication.
Note: Photos labelled ©COREL are taken from a purchased CD-ROM photo collection and are used under a single-use license and are NOT available for reproduction.
- Permission for Text: If you wish to obtain permission to use text from a resource on this Web site you
will need to identify the resource's author(s) or publisher. In most cases, the author's name and contact information
can be found on the main title page of the resource. If the page you are viewing is not the title page of the resource, use the Return to Contents link on the bottom of the
resource page you are viewing to navigate to the resource's title page. Location and contact information for the
author(s) will be listed either at the top of the page with the initial listing of authors, or below the Table of
Contents section. Publisher information can be found in the citation ("This resource is based on the following source:") listed on the resource's title page.
You may also use the Acknowledgments page to find author affiliation and location information.
Note: Please be aware that resources on this Web site are offered as electronic versions of biological reports and scientific papers first published in print by entities who grant this Web site reprint permission. Textual information on this site (such as author location or contact information) is presented as it was printed in the original publication. Take note of the publication date in the resource's citation on the title page. Older publications may not contain current contact information.
In lieu of getting the authors' permission to use a picture or text, you may link your Web page to ours and direct your visitors to specific resources of interest on the NPWRC site.
If you have any questions concerning copyright permissions, please contact the NPWRC Web Team at: npwrc@usgs.gov (be sure to include with your message the resource title and Web address of the page in question)
