  Accesibility Information
LEXTRAN is committed to serving the disabled community. We back this committment by providing services that make public transportation both easy and affordable for people with disabilities.

Lift-Equipped Buses

LEXTRAN is proud to be able to state that 100% of our bus fleet is Lift-Equipped. This means that all of our buses are friendly to passengers who use wheelchairs and would otherwise be unable to board the bus.

Our current Lift systems can accommodate up to 800 lbs. and incorporate a special lift barrier and belt for maximum safety. All buses have 3-point tie downs and most have shoulder belts that control forward and side movements.

Please Note: Each bus can accomodate a maximum of 2 wheelchairs, and that currently 3 wheel scooters can not be accomodated.

Also note that while all of our buses are wheelchair accessible, not all stops are. Get to know your stops. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Currently, we recommend that people with disabilities requiring the lift service arrive up to 15 minutes before the bus arrives. Please review our Wheelchair Accessible Bus Service Instructions for more information.

Reduced Fares for the Disabled

Reduced fares are available to people with disabilities, by obtaining a LEXTRAN ID Card. You can obtain an ID card at LexTran’s transfer station in the Transit Center or at the Transit Authority offices at 109 West Loudon, Monday through Friday. To qualify for the reduced fares and to obtain your LEXTRAN ID card, you will need to file an application, including a signed statement from a health professional.

Reduced fares are currently $0.50 per ride with ID Card, or $15 Monthly for a Disabled Pass.

You must present a LexTran ID card to your bus operator for these reduced fares.
