Regarding: the Petition to prohibit the slaughter of downed animals 
- docket number 98P-0151/CP1

To whom it may concern:

I am writing to strongly urge you to grant the petition to prohibit the 
slaughter of downed animals.  Forget the regulations, forget the profit 
numbers, forget the statistics, and PLEASE forget the pressures that are 
being put on you to reject this petition.  

Please - think only of what it says about all of us to create a society where 
injured, sick, and terrified animals are treated with such incredible 
cruelty.  Our laws say volumes about our true nature.  To these animals, we 
are no better than Hitler.  And these animals do feel pain and they can feel 
terror.  Imagine how quickly the laws would change if humans were allowed to 
be treated in the same way that downed animals are treated.  Actually, it 
took a Civil War in the past.  Isn't it time to move forward to a better 
future for all of us who are sharing this planet?
