Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments I am writing to request that the FDA require more testing of and more information about genetically engineered products. I believe the proposed rules favor the interests of corporate agriculture and the biotechnology industry over the public's right to know about and choose products with acceptable ingredients. Also, the reduction of the worlds crops from thousands of ancestral types to universal hybrids is a mistake. The speading of the hybrid simply waits for the first resistant fungus to come along. By breeding and cultivating only the most desirable seeds, our civilization is playing a game of agricultural Russian Roulette(or, rather are we ignoring the lesson of the Russian Botonists who, during World War II, chose to starve rather that eat the genetic gold in Leningrad's seed bank). I believe most individuals want to know if they are buying genetically engineered food products.
