Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments Dear FDA: I am writing to express my support in the current United States food regulatory system, especially pertaining to regulation of foods developed through biotechnology. I am aware that the FDA‚s current policy on foods derived through biotechnology is based upon the considered opinion of the scientific community that biotechnology is not an inherently risky process, and that regulation should be based upon the characteristics of individual products. Therefore, I support the new proposal to require food developers to consult with the FDA at least 120 days in advance of their intent to market a food or animal feed developed through biotechnology and to provide information to demonstrate that the product is as safe as its conventional counterpart. I believe that these measures are sufficient to ensure the safety of the US food supply and that they will allow the review process to be more transparent to the public. Sincerely, Jeff Hall
