Lemanea fucina Profile: Rhodophyte in which the red color is masked, usually grey-green. Wiry or spurlike, relatively thick and cartilaginous. 2-20 cm height, erect but commonly bent flat in swift-water habitats. Macroscopically unbranched or with very short branches at nodes, but axis is a complex of branched longitudinal filaments surrounding a thick cortex. Commonly in swift water and waterfalls. |
