September 2 to October 18
The Kapolei Public Library will host “Key Ingredients: America by Food,”
a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit, made possible in Hawaii by
the Hawaii Council for the Humanities, from September 2nd through
October 18th.
This special exhibit explores the connections between
Americans and the foods they produce, prepare, preserve and present at
the table. Recommended for ages 12 to adults, this exhibit will be
available for viewing during Kapolei Pubic Library’s regular hours of
operation. To complement the “Key Ingredients” exhibit, three special
ancillary exhibits celebrating the local diversity of food in Hawaii
will be on display: “Hawaii By Food: A Celebration of Hawaii’s Food
Culture,” “The Oroku Restaurant Project” and a photo display that
depicts what life, and in particular, food, was like for the average
plantation worker.
