During 1999--2002, approximately 50% of females and 40% of males reported using at least one prescription drug
during the preceding month, with non-Hispanic whites more likely to do so than non-Hispanic blacks and Mexican-Americans.
In each racial/ethnic population, females were more likely than males to have used at least one prescription drug during
the preceding month.
