Symptom Management Steering Committee

The Symptom Management and Health-Related Quality of Life (SxQOL) SC was established in April 2006. The goals of the committee are to (1) review and prioritize symptom management intervention clinical trial concepts to be conducted through the CCOP mechanism, (2) provide input to studies with secondary quality of life endpoints in cooperative group treatment studies, (3) develop prioritization criteria for QOL studies that are eligible for proposed Correlative Science/QOL set aside funds, and (4) convene State-of-the-Science meetings to identify critical questions, unmet needs, and prioritize key strategies. Co-chairs have been elected and the core committee membership has been named and includes community oncologist representatives.

Each member of the SxQOL SC is expected to regularly participate in the decision making activities of the Committee through monthly teleconferences and face-to-face meetings that will be held, when possible, in conjunction with national symposiums. Additionally, members of the SxQOL will plan and participate in State-of-the-Science Meetings.
