Volunteers Needed for East
Fork Lewis River Clean-Up
Help Celebrate National
Public Lands Day and Take Back the East Fork Lewis River
AMBOY,
WA – Join the Mount St. Helens Institute and community
volunteers on Saturday, September 29th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to
help clean up and restore streamside areas and maintain trails along the
Headwaters of the East Fork of the Lewis River in the Gifford Pinchot
National Forest.
Who?: Volunteers of all ages are needed to come out and
join in the fun! Please bring a water bottle, work gloves and wear sturdy
boots. Come dressed for “rain or shine” weather.
Where?: Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Sunset
Falls Day Use Area at Sunset Falls Campground on Forest Road 42. The clean
up will be followed at 12:30 p.m. by a volunteer appreciation barbecue.

How?: The Mount St. Helens Institute is partnering with
other community organizations and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest
to organize this event.
Why?: Because we recognize the importance of the East
Fork of the Lewis River to our visitors and surrounding communities. After
a busy summer, it’s time to lend the East Fork a helping hand!
What’s Next?: The Mount
St. Helens Institute will be hosting volunteer trail projects, weed
pulls, and other volunteer projects at Mount St. Helens this fall and
