1. New Phone Forum on the Draft Redesigned Form 990
The IRS invites tax professionals and representatives of tax-exempt organizations to participate in a Phone Forum on the draft redesigned Form 990 (Return of Organizations Exempt from Income Tax).The forum will be presented on July 18, 2007 and repeated July 19, 2007. These forums are being offered at no charge to participants,and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration, via AT&T Teleconference Services, is now open. 2. New Life Cycle Resource Tools on irs.gov
The IRS website has new information tools (Life Cycles) to help guide tax-exempt organizations through the federal tax rules that pertain to them. These new tools are resources for certain organizations exempt under IRC sections 501(c)(4), (c)(5), and (c)(6).
3. Q and A's on Electronic Health Records Directive
The IRS provided answers to questions about new guidance on exempt hospitals providing financial assistance to help medical staff physicians acquire electronic health records software for their patients.
4. e-File News
Exempt organizations are reminded that for tax years ending on or after December 31, 2006 the electronic filing requirement is expanded. Visit the Modernized e-file for Charities and Nonprofits homepage for up-to-date electronic filing information.
