Abstract: (CIT): A NIH Consensus Development Conference on Asymptomatic Primary Hyperparathyroidism held in 1990 and sponsored by NIDDK explored the causes and effects of this disease, developing a consensus on how to treat it. Together with a research agenda, the consensus statement provided landmarks for basic and clinical approaches to the disease. In the subsequent years many new advances have occurred, including the identification, cloning, and characterization of the PTH/PTHrP receptor and the Calcium Activated Receptor, as well as a series of studies of surgical treatment of Primary Hyperparathyroidism. Viewers can submit questions or comments to the Live Event Feedback Form.
