Overview

Mission & Purpose

• To review and advise DHS on programs and services that impact people with physical disabilities.
• To identify unmet needs and develop strategies for addressing those unmet needs.
• To review proposed administrative rules, programs, policies, and other critical components and submit written recommendations to DHS.
• To work with others improving DHS services and programs for people with physical disabilities.
• To advise DHS during budget development and the approval process.
• To serve as the lead in developing strategies to promote choice, dignity, and independence.

Vacancy Recruitment

There are vacancies on the People with Physical Disabilities Advisory Committee (PDAC).  Members should have a background in advocacy, and must be available to meet monthly in Salem or by video conferencing at the closest equipped branch office. If you are interested and are in one of the following counties (Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Crook, Deschutes, Harney, Jefferson, Josephine, Klamath, Lake, Malheur, Polk, Tillamook, Umatilla or Washington), complete and submit an application (see link, below) by email to Becky Murphy at Becky.Murphy@state.or.us. Applications are reviewed by staff and PDAC members, with recommendations going to the Director's Office.  The Director of the Department of Human Services appoints members.  If you have any questions, email or call 503-947-1136.
