Art has over 30 years of experience in the transportation industry as a professional fleet manager providing transportation logistics and services in both the public and the private sectors. Art served in several capacities in transportation since 1972. His longest-term career began in 1981, working primarily with over-the-road truck fleets. Art managed fleet maintenance operations in the Rocky Mountain Region for the largest fortune-500 company in the US consisting of over 165,000 vehicles. His management responsibilities encompassed the Denver District with approximately 3000 vehicles that consisted of refrigerated tractor-trailers; Consumer Division, a fleet of approximately 5000 mid-size trucks; and the Public Transportation Division, multiple fleets of governmental contracted transportation services. He held three fleet management position titles concurrently between 1991 to 2000 as the Regional Maintenance Manager, Regional Safety and Subrogation Manager, and Environmental Programs Manager in a twelve state territory. Art elected to pursue State Government to secure his residence of preference in Colorado, and accepted employment early 2000 with the Colorado Department Of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), His primary duties to refine state transportation regulatory programs with an impetus to improve air quality, reduce petroleum consumption, promote the use of alternative fuels, and serve in the capacity of state liaison with commercial fleets and various environmental stakeholders.

 

Art transferred to the Colorado Division of Central Services (DCS) during 2005 as the Colorado State Fleet Manager. Colorado SFM consists of approximately 5000 vehicles statewide and offers a full range of vehicle and transportation related services.

 

Art's ambitions are to apply his experience earned knowledge of fleet logistics, value-added programs, and customer service, to accomplish a world-class fleet operation within the State of Colorado Fleet Management Program.
