VANCOUVER, WA – Coldwater Ridge Visitor Center at Mount St. Helens will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 25 and 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday. The center will re-open on its winter schedule Saturday, Dec. 27.

The center, located 43 miles east of Castle Rock, Wash., on State Route 504, is normally open Thursday through Monday during the winter and seven days a week between May and November. The Center also will be closed New Year’s Day.

Johnston Ridge Observatory is closed for the winter and will re-open in early May. Mount St. Helens Visitor Center at Silver Lake, operated by the State of Washington, will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s days and open seven days a week otherwise.

State Route 504 has been closed east of Coldwater Lake, 45 miles east of Castle Rock, by the Washington Department of Transportation because of hazardous driving conditions. The road might be re-opened if the weather improves.
