Training FAQs

Who teaches the courses?

Cheryl Wilder is the King County GIS Center's Training Coordinator and course instructor. Cheryl is an ESRI-certified teacher, and prior to her employment by King County Cheryl worked in ESRI technical support.

What courses are offered?

The KCGIS Center teaches ESRI-authorized courses in ArcView and ArcGIS. We also teach a variety of courses that we have designed specifically for users of King County GIS data and applications. Finally, we host ESRI-taught courses in our training facility. Check out our Catalog page for specific offerings.

Where are the courses held?

Most courses and training events are held in our training facility at King Street Center in the Pioneer Square neighborhood of downtown Seattle. See a map and the address.

We also offer courses in other locations in the Northwest when a demand exists. Watch for course offerings in your area in our training announcements and in our calendar. We can also provide affordable on-site training for organizations as an alternative to sending students to Seattle. Contact Cheryl Wilder for more information about custom training possibilities in your agency or company.

Are any online training resources offered?

The King County GIS Knowledge Base contains a vast array of information, much of which can help you learn about GIS in general and the King County GIS in particular.

How can I register for a course?

Everything you need to know for courses offered at King Street Center is on the Registration page.

Courses offered at other locations will have customized registration forms and additional information that applies only to the specific offering. Look for special links in the course catalog listings.

How can I get more information?

Contact Cheryl Wilder, GIS Center Training Coordinator, via e-mail or by phone at (206) 263-5220.
