There is no food service in the monument, but there are picnic tables near the visitor center, at the Lava Flow parking area, and at Painted Desert Vista picnic area on the way to Wupatki National Monument.

The Sunset Crater penstemon (Penstemon clutei) is found only on cinder deposits within the San Francisco Volcanic Field, including Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, in northern Arizona.
