IHS HEALTH SUMMIT
The Healthier Indian Communities through Partnerships and Prevention summit was held on September 22-24, 2004 in Washington, D.C., to focus attention on the urgency of prevention to reduce health disparities in American Indian/Alaska Native population through partnerships, sharing current best and promising practices, and reaffirming the Agency’s commitment to health promotion/disease prevention. The summit brought together Tribal Leaders, community health leaders, health program coordinators, community members, health professionals, university partners, foundations, private corporations, and federal agencies to share best practices and policies that foster healthy behavior change and support healthier lifestyle choices.
