As defined in Oregon's Record Privacy Law, Personal Information means the following information that identifies an individual:
- Driver License
- Driver Permit or Identification Card Number
- Name
- Address (excluding five-digit zip code)
- Telephone Number
Personal Information is protected from release under the Privacy Law. Generally, an individual cannot get another person's personal information. However, most businesses can get Personal Information if they have a specific need for the information that is permitted in the Privacy Law. A domain name and Internet Protocol (IP) address are not considered personal information, however, an email address may be considered personal information.
E-mail
If you send us an E-mail message with a question or comment that contains personal information, we will only use the information to respond to your request. However, please note that e-mails received from this site are considered public record. Certain information contained in the e-mail may be protected from general release under Oregon's Public Records Law (ORS 192.410-192.505) or Oregon's Record Privacy Law (ORS 802.175-802.191). This information may only be released if a requestor qualifies under the law to receive the information.

For secured-data transmission, this site uses the industry standard encryption software, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This encryption prevents anyone, including our employees, from obtaining your name, billing address or credit card number while it is sent over the Internet.
If the bottom line of your browser contains a "padlock" icon, the Web page you are viewing is encrypted. Also, a Web address beginning with "https://..." indicates the page you are viewing uses encryption. The "s" in the address stands for "secured". If these indicators are not present, information is susceptible to interception by other parties. All OregonDMV.com Web forms offer SSL protection.
Credit or Debit Card Transactions
The secure Web page you use to enter your credit or debit card information does not save your data in your browser's cache memory. This prevents anyone else from being able to find your credit or debit card information by searching that file.
Your credit card data is forwarded to our Credit Card Authorization Service provider as an encrypted file. The authorization service verifies that the credit or debit card is both valid and that you are not exceeding your credit limit. If the charge is approved, they send an encrypted authorization number back to us and we notify you that your renewal transaction has successfully been completed. We do not save your credit or debit card number in our database, nor do we print it on any reports.
