Labor Day Safety

Date: August 30, 2006
Contact: Dimitra Guerrero, (361) 949-8173 x229

(Corpus Christi, Texas)- Superintendent Colin Campbellannounced that there is a strong likelihood that large crowds will be visiting the National Seashore for Labor Day weekend, beginning Friday, September 1 and ending on Monday, September 4, 2006. Visitors traveling to Bird Island Basin Boat Ramp should anticipate the parking lot filling to capacity. In the event that the parking lot becomes full, visitors may not be able to park and/or use the facilities. Park Rangers will be on duty enforcing parking, traffic rules and regulations at Bird Island Basin and throughout the National Seashore. Rangers will also enforce a fire-use restriction, consistent with area County fire bans. The park fire-use restriction will remain in effect until September 4, 2006.

For more information about the park, please contact the visitor center at 361-949-8068 or visit the website at www.nps.gov/pais/
