D - R. minuta is a dominant component of both the spring and summer phytoplankton assemblage in all 5 Great Lakes. In spring, it is joined by R. lens (co-dominant) in Lakes Michigan and Huron and by R. minuta v. nannoplanctica (co-dominant) in Lake Erie. R. minuta v. nannoplanctica is also a summer co-dominant in Lakes Erie and Ontario.
