Of the 8,166,688 persons arrested in the Nation’s cities during 2007, males accounted for 75.5 percent of the arrestees.
Males comprised 81.5 percent of persons arrested for violent crime and 65.3 percent of those arrested for property crime.
In the Nation’s cities, males were most frequently arrested for drug abuse violations (875,418) and other (simple) assaults (561,610).
Females were most often arrested for larceny-theft offenses (311,897) and for drug abuse violations (198,472).
