Nationwide in 2007, the average dollar value per motor vehicle stolen was $6,755. The average dollar value of property taken during burglaries was $1,991; during robberies, $1,321; and during larceny-thefts, $886.
By location, 43.8 percent of robberies occurred at streets or highways and 67.9 percent of burglaries occurred at residences.
Of the larceny-theft categories, larceny-thefts from buildings had the highest average dollar value of property taken, $1,263.
Nearly 44 percent (43.9) of all larceny-thefts involved property valued at more than $200.
