Description

The Office of Communications and Public Liaison (OCPL) is the central office for communications at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Located in NIH’s Office of the Director, OCPL lead the effort to communicate information about NIH programs, issues/ and accomplishments to the media, public interest groups, scientific and medical communities, and the public. Services provided by OCPL directly to the public include (1) NIH Web site, which offers access to health information, research funding opportunities, scientific resources, and the latest research news; (2) NIH Radio, an audio service designed to provide radio stations and the public with the latest information about NIH research findings, highlights of press conferences, and health campaigns; and (3) Offices of Public Liaison, which provides information about nationwide NIH-sponsored events and activities, new publications and resources for the public, health campaigns, and opportunities for public involvement.

Print Resources

The Public Information Office, a component of OCPL, produces and distributes a number of publications that showcase the NIH research results; provides print, radio and television coverage of NIH news and activities; produces the NIH Record; and clears NIH publications through the Department of Health and Human Services.
