Press Advisory - Hearings Scheduled On PGE-Sierra Pacific Sale

Salem, Or - The Oregon Public Utility Commission has scheduled two public hearings in April to gather public comment on the sale of Portland General Electric (PGE) to Sierra Pacific Resources. The hearings will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about the case, ask questions and to comment on the prospective sale.
 
PUC staff will provide comments and make a brief presentation. Officials from both companies are also expected to make brief presentations outlining the transaction. Commission staff and company representatives will field questions. After the presentations and questions, the public will have an opportunity to comment.

Last November, the Reno, Nevada, based utility entered into a purchase and sale agreement with Enron’s wholly owned electric utility, Portland General Electric (PGE).
 
The combined company of Sierra Pacific Resources and Portland General Electric will have a total of more than $9 billion in assets and serve more than 1.7 million customers in three states.
 
PGE serves more than 700,000 retail customers in northwest Oregon.
