An agency, facility, or program is required to report to the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Ombudsman Office the death or serious injury of a client within 24 hours of the incident.

The Code of Federal Regulations includes Title 34, Education, Part 300: Assistance to States for the Education of Children with Disabilities. This constitutes the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA).

Rehabilitation Act: Section 504

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act - Section 504 is a federal civil rights statute that assures individuals that they will not be discriminated against based upon their disability. Any learner with a disability, whether or not they receive special education services, is protected. Because all school districts receive federal funding, they are responsible for implementation of this law.

Technology Access Standards

Nonvisual technology access standards must be included in all contracts for the procurement of information technology by, or for the use of, agencies, political subdivisions, and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. The University of Minnesota is encouraged to consider similar standards.
