State and Local Civil Rights Resources for Texas

Texas's Protection and Advocacy (P&A) service provides legal guidance free of charge for eligible people with disabilities and advocates for the legal, human and service rights of people with disabilities. Issue areas addressed by Advocacy, Inc. include education, housing, employment, transportation and health care.

This Disability & Business Technical Assistance Center (DBTAC) provides training and information on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), including state and local government responsibilities under Title II of the ADA, as well as information on accessible electronic and information technology for people in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

Serves as a central source of information and education on the abilities, rights, problems and needs of persons with disabilities.

Provides the opportunity for persons with disabilities in Texas to fully participate in the mainstream of life and to experience equal rights.

Enforces federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), that prohibit job discrimination.
