Commission on Final Leg of 541 Area Code Open Houses

Salem, Ore. Having completed 14 Open House events the Oregon Public Utility Commission will travel to Southwest and Southeastern Oregon in early August to give residents an opportunity to find out and have a say about Oregon’s new area code by attending an upcoming Open House in Roseburg, Medford, Klamath Falls and Lakeview. The Open Houses are the last of 18 scheduled throughout the State.
Available telephone numbers in the 541 area code are limited and expected to run out in early 2011.
Due to the time required to implement a new area code, the Public Utility Commission of Oregon (PUC) opened an investigation to determine the best way to provide number relief.
Affected customers are encouraged to comment and ask questions on the need for a new area code at any of 18 PUC hosted open house meetings throughout the State.
Members of the PUC Staff and industry representatives will be available to answer individual questions from the public during this time.
If you cannot attend, more information is posted on PUC’s website. Customers can also email their comments to PUC.541@state.or.us. A decision will be made this fall.
