Prince Albert I of Monaco, 1848-1922, a great oceanographer, statesman, and
humanitarian. He is wearing the "habit ver", the uniform of the Institut de
France of which the Academie des sciences de Paris is one of five components.
Through his generosity, the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco was established.
