Software independence is a MUST! I personally vote on machines that have a paper trail, I manually mark the ballot and it is scanned. It is important to use this type of technology because it is easy to add programming changes that are not easily detectable to this type of machine and to completely electronic voting machines. I know Clint Curtis, a Florida Congressional candidate who was asked to do this. Computers are subject also, to glitches that are unknown at the time of voting, just because they are electronic equipment handled by various personnel with no intent to err, but can inadvertently do so. I ask you to include SI in your bill! Respectfully, Elizabeth Duncan Cocoa Beach, FL
