2007 USGS Open House Poster

2007 USGS Open House, November 3, 2007 in Reston, Virginia

We invite you to come to the USGS Open House on Saturday, November 3 from 10 am - 5 pm to learn about our science, enjoy hands-on fun, and explore what the USGS does.

The U.S. Geological Survey is 128 years old and still going strong as the Nation’s earth and biological science agency. USGS scientists conduct research to understand America's natural resources. I hope you have the opportunity to talk to a scientist at our Open House and learn how their job can help keep America's people, communities, and economy strong and healthy.

USGS science includes biology, geography, geology, and hydrology. Each is important in its own right. In combination, they provide the foundation of knowledge to tackle issues like climate change, energy and mineral resources, ecosystems, natural hazards, water availability, and environmental impacts on human health.

Have a great time learning about our science.

Mark Myers,
Director, U.S. Geological Survey
