Activity Highlights
Provide leadership in fish and wildlife conservation efforts relative to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' activities along the Upper Mississippi and Lower Ohio rivers, including commercial navigation, flood control and Environmental Management Program projects with emphasis on restoration of habitats for federal trust resources
Work cooperatively with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the states of Illinois and Missouri to restore and enhance side channels in the Mississippi River and manage water levels for federal trust resources
Provide technical assistance to the U.S. Forest Service to conserve and protect federal trust resources on the Shawnee National Forest
Administers the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program in central and southern Illinois to restore and enhance habitats for migratory birds, endangered species and aquatic species of concern
Promote an ecosystem view of flood control projects in the American Bottoms
