![]() ![]() Welcome to the Genoa National Fish Hatchery web site! We have a great story to tell you, so sit back and enjoy your Internet tour of the station. This station is located in Genoa, Wisconsin and is managed by the Genoa first began its mission raising bass and panfish for area waters. Due to changes in national fisheries program priorities, the station now concentrates on the recovery of Threatened and Endangered Aquatic species, such as Higgins Eye pearly mussel, and restoration of threatened fish populations such as sturgeon and coaster brook trout. Sport fish are also provided to Fish and Wildlife refuges to increase recreational opportunities on Fish and Wildlife Service managed land. Genoa is a very diverse station, called a combination station, because it is able to raise cold, cool, and warm water species of fish and aquatic animals. It is able to do this because it has 6 groundwater sources for coldwater (3 artesian wells, and 3 pumped wells), and its ponds for warm water in the more temperate months.Skip navigation links |
