Description

The mission of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) is to improve the quality of health care provided in jails, prisons, and juvenile detention and confinement facilities by developing standards, conducting educational conferences, providing technical assistance, doing original research, and awarding accreditation and certification to correctional health care systems and individual providers. The NCCHC nationally recognized standards are the benchmark for high quality, efficient medical and mental health care in corrections. These standards are used to accredit jails, prisons, and juvenile confinement facilities, and to assist public and private agencies in monitoring the quality of medical services provided in these settings. The NCCHC fall and spring conferences are the largest in the world devoted to this field.
