The Parent Project is a nonprofit organization of families around the world who have children diagnosed with DMD/BMD. Our goal is to invest significant amounts of money raised into medical research with clinical application. The parents have identified and secured the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in August, 1995. Through the sponsorship of The Parent Project this center brings together leading groups of scientists from around the world to concentrate their energies toward a severe form of Muscular Dystrophy. The objectives of the Project is: to find viable treatments and a cure specifically for children afflicted with Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy in the most expedient manner possible; to identify and fund research programs from around the world in collaboration with the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research Center for the purpose of encouraging a World Collaboration on Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy. The Parent Project believes this focused approach will accelerate potential treatments and ultimately a cure for this disease.
