• The U.S. Department of Transportation has published two guidance documents related to accommodation of mobility devices on transit vehicles. The first guide is titled Use of "Segways" on Transportation Vehicles, and the second guide is called Questions and Answers Concerning Common Wheelchairs and Public Transit

• Easter Seals Project ACTION's Oversized/Overweight Mobility Aids: Status of the Issue (PDF) synthesis describes the issues transit agencies and passengers using mobility aids are facing when using oversized/overweight mobility aids on transit systems.

• A Universal Securement/Restraint System for Wheeled Mobility Aids on Public Transportation Vehicles (PDF) was developed for Easter Seals Project ACTION by the Transportation Research Institute, Oregon State University

• The Wheelchair Marking and Tether Strap Program of AC Transit, Oakland, Calif. is designed to identify key securement points on all types of mobility aids.

• Developed by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, the Ride Safe Web site provides passengers with information on travel more safely in motor vehicles while seated in their wheelchairs

• The Wheelchair Standards Information Web site is the home for information on the development of Wheelchair Seating and Wheelchair Transportation Safety Standards, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh

• The Wheeled Mobility Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh

• The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) on Wheelchair Transportation Safety
