Corps of Engineers Names Best Projects

The St. Paul district earned the competition's Award of Excellence, the highest award available, for its flood control project in Rochester, Minn., and two merit awards for projects in the Upper Mississippi River area.

The program of engineering awards, presented by the Corps every two years, began in 1965. It recognizes and promotes excellence in design and environmental achievement by the Corps and its contractors. Districts compete in two categories, civil works and military programs.

The Corps presents Merit awards to projects involving individual or multiple engineering disciplines. It presents Honor awards to projects that demonstrate excellence in multiple design disciplines.
