  • In 2005, white arrestees accounted for 82.4 percent of persons arrested in nonmetropolitan counties.
  • White adults accounted for 73.2 percent of all persons arrested for violent crime and for 82.6 percent of all persons arrested for property crime.
  • White juveniles (persons under 18 years of age) accounted for 73.3 percent of juveniles arrested for violent crime and for 83.1 percent of juveniles arrested for property crime.
  • In nonmetropolitan counties, white persons were most often arrested for driving under the influence-111,200 arrests-and drug abuse violations-73,902 arrests.
  • Black persons were most frequently arrested in nonmetropolitan counties for drug abuse violations-13,988 arrests-and other (simple) assaults-11,725 arrests.
