NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Pacific Ocean Perch for Vessels Participating in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Island Trawl Limited Access Fishery in the Eastern Aleutian District of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific ocean perch in the Eastern Aleutian District (Statistical Area 541) of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) for vessels participating in the BSAI trawl limited access fishery at 12 noon, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), April 18, 2008, according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Regional Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the 2008 total allowable catch of Pacific ocean perch in the Eastern Aleutian District of the BSAI specified for vessels participating in the BSAI trawl limited access fishery and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.25(a)(1)(i), (a)(2)(i)(C), and (a)(2)(iii)(D).
