The first relief supplies from the United States ready for departure aboard a U.S. Air Force C-17 at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, Oct. 10, 2005, less than 48 hours after the devastating earthquake that left thousands dead and thousands more injured. Airmen and soldiers at Bagram, with only a few hours notice, worked to palletize the supplies and prepare them for the flight. U.S. Air Force photo by Capt. James H. Cunningham
